The Scary Clown Presents… the end

Matty, Jonny and Krispy, aka the Scary Clown Presents

It’s with a heavy heart that us Scary Clown’s have decided to stop putting on our DIY punk shows after our last Xmas party gig this December 2024.  It’s been 11 years of fun (and a lot of effort and lost money), and it leaves us with a ton of memories, hangovers, and great friends.  We’ve all met so many bands and punks in the years we’ve been trying to put on gigs, and we’d not have wanted it any other way.

The local Peterborough/Stamford DIY scene is now as lively as it’s ever been, with others helping pick up the gig load – including Socks On Records, No Gods No Managers, and the revived Club With No Name.  There’s so many shows we feel we can ‘retire’ and just enjoy going to other peoples shows.  Krispy especially travels the UK too going to fests and gigs, so you’ll still see our faces out and about.

So the current listed gigs (plus possibly an unannounced show) will be the last we promote – our Skate-aid 10 will be the tenth and last all-dayer fundraiser, and at the point of writing there’s only 37 tickets left.  So please do get your tix asap for that.   We’ve also got those local legends VANILLA POD coming back for one last show – they are a good bunch of lads!

We go out with a festive bang – our Xmas punk party gig will again be a free show at the Ostrich Inn, Peterborough.  We are yet to announce the line-up but we should have a big name again coming to party with us in Pboro’s best boozer.

Thanks for all the good times, Matty, Jonny & Krispy!

2019 Done – Planning 2020 Gigs!

SCP stage set-up with new bass drum skin

Well our final Scary Clown Presents gig of 2019 was a total banger – the much-needed return of those mad chaps from Pizzatramp topped of a five band Xmas gig of much fun.

Don’t tell Pizzatramp, but we feel that Brassick may have stole the show though – their first visit to Mama Lizs for one of our gigs, and they blew most of us away!  We got a lot of great feedback from regulars about their set of full on hard-core.

So we’d like to wish everyone a very merry Xmas – let’s ignore the coming end of time with the totally crap election result of that total fuckwit Boris Johnson and his band of cunts.

On more positive news the new SCP drumskin with our new logo (possibly inspired by a skateboard brand) looked smashing on stage – the white really helps it stand out.  Lovely.

We’ve got lots of gigs planned for next year, including Skate-aid 7, and a very special TWO DAY punk festival in honour of our much missed Matt Lancaster.  #punksdontdie

Local paper prints a full page SCP feature!

Peterborough Telegraph Scary Clown Presents feature

Fame at last… well at least a little recognition of what the Scary Clown Presents… is doing for the local music scene, as the local paper prints a full page spread about us.  It includes a great photo from DIY Punk’s “mr photography”, Mark Richards, who has been our guest at a couple of our shows.  He really does capture the essence of the gig with his photos.

Anyway – it’s a good pat on the back, and more importantly for us, it may bring some new people to our shows, hopefully let some young punk / alternative music fans find out about us, and join in the friendly party that our gigs are!

We’ve managed to talk about both of our usual venues, Mama Liz’s in Stamford, and The Ostrich Inn in Peterborough.

PARTY!
