Snuff in Stamford; A Celebration of the Life of Ben Ramone Thompson

SNUFF GIG JAN 2024

SNUFF BACK IN STAMFORD!

Jan 20th 2024.  A Celebration of the Life of Ben Ramone Thompson with a lineup of acts that he loved xxx
With an acoustic Snuff headline (full band), Misfortune Cookie, Mark Murphy, & A Great Notion.

Ben came to many of our gigs, and we have some classic pictures and memories of him at those shows.  He also was hugely into his music (and it in vinyl form), and we know had many friends across the UK in bands who he often would chat with.

“On a recent visit to see Emma, she mentioned that Holly (Ben’s Daughter) thought it would be cool to put on a gig in Ben’s name. How can you refuse? So we have a lineup of some of Ben’s fave UK acts to be announced very soon. The idea is to have a party as this would have been 2 days before Ben’s next birthday, and celebrate with great music and fun tales of Ben.”

Doors 7.30pm,   Music ends 10.30pm, bar upstairs open till the early hours.TICKETS ON THE DOOR ONLY NOW – 10 LEFT

LINE UP:

SNUFF (full band intimate acoustic) – legends of the UK DIY Scene on Fat Wreck Chords – back for the 3rd? SCP gig – it is full band, but they are releasing a new ‘acoustic’ album, so are stripping back their songs to play in a more intimate way.  Mama Liz’s is pretty intimate so a great venue to experience this.
MISFORTUNE COOKIE – a band beloved of Ben, and the Scary Clown posse.
MARK MURPHY – No Marks / Crocodile God – and a good friend of Ben’s
A GREAT NOTION – Ben’s favourite local band (sorry the rest of you!)

Misfortune Cookie + Midwich Cuckoos @ Ostrich Inn

misfortune cookie and Midwich Cuckoo gig Peterborough

We’ve got a MASSIVE FREE ENTRY GIG at our 2nd home, the Ostrich Inn (Pboro town center) – another gig in our favourite boozer…

Misfortune Cookie + Midwich Cuckoos
+ A Great Notion @ Ostrich Inn

MONDAY 11th April 2022 – pub open from noon, first band 7.30pm sharp! (it’s a school night so earlier finish!)
A pre-Manchester Punk Festival warm-up gig

You hopefully have already seen Misfortune Cookie at one of our gigs – if not they are bloody amazing (3 former members of Bear Trade, plus an amazing female vocalist).  We are so pleased to be able to bring them to the Ostrich Inn for a pre-MPF warm up gig.  Midwich Cuckoos are a band we’ve repeatedly tried to bring to one of our gigs – a high-energy punk rock band from that there London – their recent videos have been amazing!   Joining the touring bands are local legends A Great Notion – who need no introduction to our regulars, but if you’ve not seen them before, Jordy’s crew brings you some of the sweetest sing-along anthems you’ll hear.

So this gig is totally free – we’ll probably kick off about 7pm – bring money* for drink and merch – buying something from a band really does help them out! * the bar takes card and cash, but bands normally need cold-hard Sterling!

Let us know you’re coming on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/events/3726848310872907  and please do share the event there and tell yer mates!

Venue:  2022 CAMRA pub of the year (Peterborough); The Ostrich Inn is our favourite city center boozer – it’s a ‘local’ pub, with proper characters behind the bar.  It’s probably the worst shape for a gig ever, but the owner landlords have put in a stage area, lighting, PA and sound desk, and you know what, gigs do work there.  It’s as intimate as you’ll ever find!  We’ve had far bigger names in the pub than anyone would ever think, and had some right rowdy nights!  They do great real ales, some craft keg beers, great gins, and hot pies.  It’s not a foodie pub, but you’re in the town center with lots of other grub choices nearby.   There’s a decent-sized car park opposite the pub entrance.  Also a cracking small beer garden outback.   IT WILL BE RAMMED FULL on the night, our gigs always are.

The Scary Clown Presents… Guns N’ Wankers Are Back!

guns n wankers gig stamford 10 may 19

Yep we are super fecking chuffed to bring you one of the very first gigs for the return of GUNS N’ WANKERS (WIKI PAGE)!  Duncan Redmonds returns to the Voodoo Lounge, this time bringing his legendary band Guns n’ Wankers with him.  These lads were signed to Fat Wreck Records back in 1994, and split when Snuff re-formed.  But they are back and playing shows this year, and we’ve managed to snaffle one of their first!  Backing them up with their amazing own brand of fast and catchy punk is SPOILERS.  Making a welcome comeback is MISFORTUNE COOKIE – 3/4s of Bear Trade plus the lovely vocals of Helen, they really made an impression at their first SCP outing.  And filling a very exclusive line-up, it’s our very good mates from Cambridge, BEVERLEY KILLS – an absolute joy to welcome them back.

NOTE: This is a Friday show – we normally put on shows on Saturday’s at Mama Liz’s.
