The Scary Clown Presents Helps Mama Liz’s Celebrate 10 Years!

We’ve been putting on gigs for quite a few years now – but our main venue, Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge, has been around even longer.  This October it celebrates its 10th year putting on shows, and we are very proud to be able to put on the official gig to celebrate that fact.

The only thing which would really celebrate this birthday would be one of our huge 1/2 dayers, so we’ve booked seven cracking bands to join us – including a band all the way from the USA – The Capitalist Kids!   They are touring the UK with Aerial Salad, who played one of their earliest gigs with us under the wing of Alex Wonk.  We are lucky to be able to bring both bands along to Stamford, to join the rest of the amazing line-up!

We start the day at 2pm, with one of our famous ‘chill sessions’ for the first three hours – just come along and have a beer or cocktail, and why not try some of the amazing Vegan street food from our friends Resist! Vegan Kitchen?   Come 5.15pm we should all be nicely relaxed and ready for SEVEN DIY PUNK BANDS, who will be rocking down in the Voodoo Lounge until late.   Children are allowed if with an adult, so feel free to bring along those budding punks!

Tickets are £12 advance, and will be £15 on the door, so save £3 per ticket if you order from our ticket shop before the event!

 

THE CAPITALIST KIDS – Tight punk power pop from Austin Texas LP available on Brassneck Records.

MATILDAS SCOUNDRELS – a folk party punk band from Hastings which you seem to see on hundreds of gig fliers! About time we brought em up to get dancing – one of the best bands on the DIY scene.

PIZZA TRAMP – omg the boys from Wales are coming back – and we know you love these three silly chaps. Come and see them smash the place up, get drunk, and probably blow your minds.

AERIAL SALAD – Welcome and overdue return for the Manchester trio who have been touring like loonies since their last visit!!!

BRASSICK – Hi Energy Punk hardcore with rocking licks from the West Midlands making their Stamford debut!

JOHNNY UTAH – Paying tribute to a time were music was valid, urgent, fun, and vital. Johnny Utah provide you with punk rock anthems of the 80’s and early 90’s

S.H.I.T. – brutal 4 chord punk rock reminiscent of Mower era Chaos UK

Wonk Unit & Raging Nathans added to our April 2018 BBQ Gig!

YES!  We are dead chuffed to be able to announce that our amazing friends WONK UNIT will return once again to Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge in Stamford, this time as part of their dual headline show with the USA band RAGING NATHANS!

It’s rare one of our gigs features a touring band from the states, so make sure you get tickets for this one, as our Wonk Unit gigs nearly always sell out, and our all dayers with vegan BBQ are legendary 🙂   We plan to have a bit of a flea market too, so if you’re someone arty or who has hand-made stuff to sell, get in touch with us!  We plan to support the local exotic pet refuge, and they may well be bringing OWLS with em!

The line-up is completed with five other great bands, some old friends a couple of bands new to Scary Clown Presents… events.

Thanks for a PunkTastic 2017!

Our small gang of reprobates at The Scary Clown Presents… would like to thank every single band, and every one of you who came along to our gigs in 2017.  After initially believing we would be winding down… we actually probably put on more shows than ever, extending ourselves from our lovely base at Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge to put smaller acoustic shows on at the Ostrich Inn in Peterborough town centre.  This year has also seen us invest some of our hard earned dosh in a back-line – adding a brand new Marshall guitar amp, a big chunky bass amp, and a set of drum shells (and now high-hat and cymbal stands!).  This allows the visiting bands to come ‘light’ – and hopefully encourage more bands to come along.

We have lots planned for 2018 – a gig in March is already organised (tickets going up soon), our April BBQ and Gig is pretty much fully booked up with bands – and there’s going to be an exciting announcement about the dual headliners of that!  We also have our Skate-Aid 5 all dayer in the planning stage, with bands being approached for that line-up.

We’ve just got our DIY Punk XMAS PARTY gig to come, on 9th December…

The Castle Builder – Edinburgh Fringe Smash hits Peterborough Town

Being old punks, we’re all about supporting local events, especially anything less mainstream and different.

There’s a show coming to our hometown of Peterborough on the 10th November 2017, which impressed at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and a friend of ours is helping to promote it so why wouldn’t we give it a mention here?  It’s  a cross between a TED talk and a Rock show apparently.  It celebrates the DIY ethic – which is what we’re all about.

The Scary Clown April BBQ and DIY Punk gig is now poking it’s head above the parapet of the dying embers of 2016…  and it’s going to be a a BANGER!

We are welcoming back some of our favourite bands, raising some money for Sea Shepherd while having a fantastic day!

Scary Clowns Punk Rock BBQ and half dayer is an afternoon spent hanging out and BBQ’ing in the awesome surroundings of Mama Lizs followed up with a relentless 8 band onslaught in the Voodoo Lounge from 5.30pm ish till Midnight. Possibly our most fun and bet attended date of last year.

Our friends the MIGHTY WONK UNIT are back from a tour of Germany and the USA (including playing at the massive FEST), and are now on the UK leg of their “Mr Splashy” tour.

Of course we had to bring them back to the Voodoo Lounge during that tour – it’s not Xmas without Wonk Unit joining the Scary Clown family is it?

Feminist DIY Punk Coming in September

We’ve often thought that our gigs should represent all – which means we knew we needed to find the best and most exciting bands out there who show what real girl power is!

And lo, we’ve made it happen!   Our Borderlands Brawlers benefit gig on the 3rd September now has a complete line-up, and it’s one of our most exciting and varied yet!

All Dayer Line-up Complete; Bad Sam headline 15 acts!

YEP we’re all booked up for our Skate Aid charity gig in June.   And we’re very chuffed with the line-up.

Once again we’ve got quite a different line-up – the odd old friend a lot of new ones joining us Daiquari punx @ Mama Liz’s in Stamford.

Headliners have just been announced, welsh punksters BAD SAM, a band we’ve been trying to temp over for a couple of years now.

Tickets are available now – 15 bands for £13.50.  That’s less than a quid a band.  BARGAIN!
