Thanks to Everyone Who Has Donated!

scary clown presents fund raising

We justed wanted to say thank-you to everyone who has attended one of our enforced ‘streamed’ gigs this year.  Both have been massive successes – even though we couldn’t come together as planned.  Damn that pandemic!

Still you helped us raise a huge amount of dosh – way more than we ever imagined would be possible – we all should pat ourselves on the back and feel warm and fuzzy!

Skate-aid will be receiving about £750 – and we donated over £1,800 to the local homeless charity after the special gig in honour of our lost mate Bomber.

Online Fundraiser in Lancaster’s Name a Success

langy fundraiser

As we couldn’t put on the two day punk ‘festival’ we wanted to due to the coronavirus pandemic, we instead took a gig online – a live Facebook streamed event over two evenings.

Much fun was had by all – with over 160 people watching during Duncan Redmond’s set.  We also had Alex Wonk and Dan from the Spoilers join us – who were both regulars playing Scary Clown gigs.

We raised money for a local homeless charity – and were blown away to raise over £1,800!  Thank you to everyone who could donate.

2019 Done – Planning 2020 Gigs!

SCP stage set-up with new bass drum skin

Well our final Scary Clown Presents gig of 2019 was a total banger – the much-needed return of those mad chaps from Pizzatramp topped of a five band Xmas gig of much fun.

Don’t tell Pizzatramp, but we feel that Brassick may have stole the show though – their first visit to Mama Lizs for one of our gigs, and they blew most of us away!  We got a lot of great feedback from regulars about their set of full on hard-core.

So we’d like to wish everyone a very merry Xmas – let’s ignore the coming end of time with the totally crap election result of that total fuckwit Boris Johnson and his band of cunts.

On more positive news the new SCP drumskin with our new logo (possibly inspired by a skateboard brand) looked smashing on stage – the white really helps it stand out.  Lovely.

We’ve got lots of gigs planned for next year, including Skate-aid 7, and a very special TWO DAY punk festival in honour of our much missed Matt Lancaster.  #punksdontdie

On an excited scale of 1 to 100, we have reached 101 as we are only the 2nd ever gig for the Duncan Redmonds reformed 90’s punk band, Guns n Wankers!!   Yep they are back and playing gigs, and we have them coming to Mama LIz’s Voodoo Lounge on 10th May.  They are joined by one hell of a line-up;  Spoilers, Misfortune Cookie, and Beverley Kills.

The gig has already sold over 70% of the ticket allocation within a few days – so if you want to come along for a bit of DIY punk history, get your tickets ASAP!  They are £10 and we will not be selling any on the door, this is a ticket only event as we know it will SELL OUT!

Guns n Wankers were formed by Duncan Redmonds when Snuff first split up, combining members of Snuff and The Wildhearts.  The current 3 piece line-up includes original members Duncan Redmonds and Pat Walters, with Wes Wasley (Consumed) on bass.

Scary Clown Presents.. their First Five Years DIY Punk Compilation Album

Scary Clown First Five Years album

Phew it’s been a learning curve for us three old punks, but we’ve finally put up the pre-order for our 33 track, 82 minutes, double coloured vinyl album; “The First Five Years”.  As it says on the tin, the tracks are from bands who have played during our first five years putting on DIY punk gigs.  That’s 33 bands from over 110 so far – we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the bands in our scene – they rushed to get us tracks, and 12 of them have never been released before – or special versions of released tracks.  A few bands (Matildas Scoundrels, Pizzatramp, and The Raging Nathans) even went into the studio to record something special.  Copies are available to pre-order in our shop here.

Thanks to Matt Cade who took the supplied tracks and mastered us a vinyl version, and Aston at Key Productions/Boss Tunage records who got the thing made for us!   We are just finishing off a 16 page photobook (A4 page size), and will be posting out the copies from 28th Jan 2019.  We also have a release party – a huge 6 band gig at Mama Liz’s in Stamford, featuring; Airstream Futures + The Human Project + Crocodile God + Petrol Boys + Mean Caesar + Carol Hodge.  Tickets for that are £8 and are on sale now – it will be popular because of the great line-up and the album release.

First Five Years Album Is Coming!

Well we are bloody well doing this!  The Scary Clown Presents… has pulled together 33 tracks from 33 bands to make our dream come true, a double vinyl album featuring bands who have all played our gigs over the first five years.  There are more we’d loved to have included, but there was limited space (82 minutes all in) – so it had to be first come first served.  We are VERY pleased with the results, thanks to Matt Cade for putting together the vinyl mixes for us, and Aston at Boss Tunage for getting the manufacturing sorted.   These things do take time – we hope to have the physical copies end of Jan, hopefully for our Airstream Futures gig on 27th Jan at Mama Liz’s.  We will keep people informed of course!  The DIY Punk album features some never before released tracks, including one from Wonk Unit, the undisputed kings of our scene.  We even had some bands go into the studio to record something special just for us, not just here in the UK but also in the USA!

Check the video below – it may well feature an exclusive track from the album… those crazy Pizzatramp boys!

The Scary Clown Presents… a DIY Punk Compilation Album!

Scary Clown Presents team album announcement

Bloody exciting news alert!!!

Our punk collective has been thinking about extending our reach by creating a small independent record label for some time – and to kick that off we’ve decided to start with a compilation album, entitled “The First Five Years”.  We’ve had over 100 bands play at our gigs over the last five years (we celebrate that 5th birthday at our next gig at Mama Liz’s, which also celebrates their 10th year of being a cracking independent music venue.

So SCP0001 “The First Five Years” is well underway, with almost all the bands & tracks agreed (30ish in total), our music producer guru is in place, and we want all tracks with him before the end of October!

We’ve got some of the cream of the DIY punk scene on this banger, and in many cases it’s never released tracks!  We’ve got quotes in for the manufacture & pressing – we are going for top quality production values on our first baby, no expense spared, no bank account left in the black.  We are talking a double vinyl gatefold LP and a full to bursting CD!

Artwork mock-ups are underway (we’ve got a ton of great photos thanks to scene photograph Mark Richards and local hotshot Pawel!)… and a rough schedule is in place too keep us honest.  We may have the best punk rock Xmas pressie of all time on our hands!

Cheers to all the bands coming in on this adventure with us!

The Scary Clown Presents Helps Mama Liz’s Celebrate 10 Years!

capitalist kids oct 27

We’ve been putting on gigs for quite a few years now – but our main venue, Mama Liz’s Voodoo Lounge, has been around even longer.  This October it celebrates its 10th year putting on shows, and we are very proud to be able to put on the official gig to celebrate that fact.

The only thing which would really celebrate this birthday would be one of our huge 1/2 dayers, so we’ve booked seven cracking bands to join us – including a band all the way from the USA – The Capitalist Kids!   They are touring the UK with Aerial Salad, who played one of their earliest gigs with us under the wing of Alex Wonk.  We are lucky to be able to bring both bands along to Stamford, to join the rest of the amazing line-up!

We start the day at 2pm, with one of our famous ‘chill sessions’ for the first three hours – just come along and have a beer or cocktail, and why not try some of the amazing Vegan street food from our friends Resist! Vegan Kitchen?   Come 5.15pm we should all be nicely relaxed and ready for SEVEN DIY PUNK BANDS, who will be rocking down in the Voodoo Lounge until late.   Children are allowed if with an adult, so feel free to bring along those budding punks!

Tickets are £12 advance, and will be £15 on the door, so save £3 per ticket if you order from our ticket shop before the event!

THE CAPITALIST KIDS – Tight punk power pop from Austin Texas LP available on Brassneck Records.

MATILDAS SCOUNDRELS – a folk party punk band from Hastings which you seem to see on hundreds of gig fliers! About time we brought em up to get dancing – one of the best bands on the DIY scene.

PIZZA TRAMP – omg the boys from Wales are coming back – and we know you love these three silly chaps. Come and see them smash the place up, get drunk, and probably blow your minds.

AERIAL SALAD – Welcome and overdue return for the Manchester trio who have been touring like loonies since their last visit!!!

BRASSICK – Hi Energy Punk hardcore with rocking licks from the West Midlands making their Stamford debut!

JOHNNY UTAH – Paying tribute to a time were music was valid, urgent, fun, and vital. Johnny Utah provide you with punk rock anthems of the 80’s and early 90’s

S.H.I.T. – brutal 4 chord punk rock reminiscent of Mower era Chaos UK
